Call for Submissions
Southern Connecticut State University School of Graduate and Professional Studies invites graduate students from all disciplines to submit proposals for presentations, performances, and exhibits for the Graduate Student Research and Creativity Conference.
This year’s theme, “Innovation in Action: Building Knowledge, Shaping Community,” highlights the dynamic role of graduate research and creative work at an R2 institution. From scientific breakthroughs to artistic expression and applied professional practice, graduate students are transforming ideas into meaningful contributions that strengthen both their fields and the communities they serve.
Abstract Requirements
- Maximum 250 words
- Clearly state the purpose, methods/approach, results or outcomes, and significance/impact
- Include title, author(s), program/department, and faculty mentor (if applicable)
Submission Format
Submit your abstract as a single Word document containing:
- Presentation title
- Author name(s) and graduate program
- Faculty mentor (optional)
- Abstract (250-word limit)
- Preferred presentation category (see below)
Presentation Categories
Students may submit in one of the following categories:
- Oral Presentation
10–12 minute research, creative, or applied practice talk followed by Q&A.
- Poster Presentation
Visual display of research, project findings, or creative scholarship.
Eligibility
- Open to all SCSU graduate students
- Individual or group submissions welcome
- Projects may be completed or in progress(all stages of completion)
Review Criteria
Abstracts will be reviewed by faculty advisors and evaluated on:
- Clarity of purpose
- Quality of method or creative approach
- Significance of results or impact
- Organization and writing quality
- Alignment with the conference theme
