Graduate Studies Graduate Assistantship (GSGA)
The Graduate Studies Graduate Assistantship (GSGA) is a non-need based award administered through the School of Graduate and Professional Studies and is contingent upon: (1) acceptance to a graduate degree or sixth-year certificate; (2) the achievement of a minimum 3.2 grade point average for all undergraduate coursework; and (3) a 3.5 grade point average for all graduate coursework.
Faculty apply for, and are awarded a GSGA position to support their teaching or research. They then nominate a student to receive the assistantship.

Hours/Week:
Full-time: GA must be available to work 20 hours per week (300 total hours of service per semester) Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Hours are flexible. The exact schedule will be established between the Supervisor and the successful applicant to meet the needs of the department.
Position Summary
The School of Graduate & Professional Studies is seeking a highly motivated Graduate Assistant (GA) to provide administrative, student service, and cross-campus project management support for a wide variety of initiatives within the school. The GA is a key position within the office who will provide direct front-line support to students via email, telephone, and in-person visits; assist with the development of campus outreach campaigns; support SGPS events; and maintain open lines of communication with key constituents both internally and externally.
The GA will provide support for operational duties, assist with recruitment, enrollment, and retention tasks and initiatives, assist staff members with time-sensitive projects, and gather best practices from peer institutions, higher education publications, and external organizations. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
Qualifications
- GA’s must be fully admitted to the Graduate School and pursuing work leading to a master ‘s degree, doctoral, sixth-year certificate, or post-master’s program.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, creative problem-solving skills, and an ability to lead high-level group projects with limited supervision in a tactful, strategic, and professional manner.
- Should be well versed in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Prior experience with project management, market research, and business communication in a professional corporate or educational setting is strongly preferred.Technical experience using a CRM, preferably Slate, or similar product preferred.
Compensation: Full-time GA’s will be compensated at the rate of $4,800 per semester
