David Capps is a writer and philosophy professor based in New Haven, CT. He has a PhD in philosophy from the University of Connecticut and an MFA in poetry from Southern Connecticut State University. His chapbooks include Poems from the First Voyage (The Nasiona Press 2019), A Non-Grecian Non-Urn (Yavanika Press 2019), Colossi (Kelsay Books 2020), Wheatfield with Reaper (Akinoga Press 2024), and the philosophical experiment, On the Great Duration of Life (Schism Neuronics 2023).
David says:
“I’ve written poetry for all of my adult life. Some of my poetry explores topics at the intersection of art and spirituality, such as my recent poems ‘Tree (after Rothko, but not)’ (Dewdrop Review), ‘Gently’ (Amethyst Review, forthcoming), and my chapbook, Wheatfield with Reaper (Akinoga Press, 2024). The latter is partly an homage to Van Gogh as a spiritual being and poet in his own right, and is carefully constructed from Van Gogh’s own phrases in his letters to his brother Theo.”
“Since 2020 I have branched out and have several essays and memoir pieces, the most recent of which is ‘Around the Lagoon, Skiathos’ (Panorama Journal, 2025) wherein I retrace the footsteps of one of my favorite 19th century Greek writers.”
