Noralis Rodríguez-Coss is a Puerto Rican feminist scholar, activist, and Associate Professor in the Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Gonzaga University in Washington State. Born and raised in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, she moved to Connecticut to earn her Master’s in Women’s and Gender Studies at Southern Connecticut State University. She later earned her Ph.D. in Feminist Studies from the University of Washington Seattle.

Noralis is a co-founder of the academic field of island feminisms and has collaborated on the Island Feminisms Project since 2016. This feminist approach examines the political and social factors that shape inequalities and injustices, highlighting the ways these issues affect island communities.

“While at SCSU, I worked as a graduate assistant in the Department of Women’s & Gender Studies and later at the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame. Both roles were deeply enriching, allowing me to work alongside generous mentors and colleagues who were genuinely invested in my professional growth and future career.”

“My Women’s & Gender Studies professors at SCSU guided me every step of the way, from my first day to graduation, and I will always be grateful for their unwavering support.”

“At SCSU, I began the incredible journey of graduate studies. Some of my happiest memories come from the wealth of ideas and knowledge that the Women’s and Gender Studies courses opened to me—experiences that have shaped the path I’m on today.”
